We are pleased to introduce THEWAVE'S Chinese IP attorney, Young Ho Lee, one of the founders of THE WAVE, in charge with work in Korea, China, and Japan.

1. Self-introduction
Young Ho Lee, Chinese IP attorney, in charge with work in Korea, China, and Japan.
In 2003, I started working for a patent team of a Taiwanese company located in China.
I dealt with patent applications, litigation, and sales in China and Japan. Currently, I am in charge of outgoing and incoming cases for China and Japan at THEWAVE.

2. You are one of the founders of THEWAVE, what motivated you to establish it?
I have always regretted that Korean is NOT my first language and that I only have a patent office in China and Japan. One day, an old friend of mine asked me to start a business in Korea. Thus, I decided to join him based on my experience in China and Japan and hope to help Korean companies advance in foreign markets.

3. Can you tell us about one of your most memorable case?
It was a great experience to set up a team of local lawyers to prosecute 300 trademark infringement lawsuits a year for a cosmetic company in China.

4. What do you think is the most important aspect of IP rights?
I think it is important to obtain a patent right to protect the respective business.
It is not only important to get a patent registration but also to have stronger power to protect the business against different competitors.

5. What are your strengths?
I am fluent in Chinese and Japanese.
As a global patent attorney in Korea, China, and Japan, I think that I can suggest a more accurate overseas patent strategy to Korean companies because I have much experience in managing patent applications in China and Japan.
